Most people seem to know that fish oil is good for you. The supplement recently became the most popular health supplement on the market, but finding the best omega 3 supplement can be an uphill task.

The only problem is that a lot of people think that all fish oil supplements are the same. That is far from the truth. There are many differences in terms of purity, freshness and in terms of the health benefits you can expect to see.

Omega-3 fatty acids are important to the function of every single part of your body. Your skin, your brain, your eyes and your heart need omega-3s. Your immune system needs them to function normally. They are used by the body to make hormones and brain chemicals called neurotransmitters.

If your diet consists largely of beef, chicken, pork and corn oil, you are getting too many omega-6s and not enough omega-3s. This imbalance leads to a problem called silent inflammation, which plays a role in heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other chronic diseases.

If you follow a strictly vegan diet, you are getting an omega-3 called ALA. The omega-3s DHA and EPA are of greatest importance to the brain and heart. The only natural foods that contain them both are certain kinds of fatty fish and a few kinds of seafood.

Not all fish and seafood provide DHA and EPA. Salmon and tuna are examples of those that do.

Supplements are a popular choice for several reasons. Not everyone likes salmon and tuna. Most people are aware that Atlantic salmon and all types of tuna are contaminated with hazardous mercury or toxic PCBs.

Taking a fish oil supplement is the easiest and least expensive way to get all of the omega-3s that your body needs to function optimally on a daily basis. You just have to be careful which brand you choose.

Most brands provide very little DHA and a great deal of EPA. Your body needs both, but DHA is believed to be most important and your body can easily down-convert DHA to EPA, ALA or any other needed omega-3. The reverse is not an easy process and is one of the least efficient of the body’s processes.

Scientists have shown that converting the shorter ALA to DHA seems to only happen in emergency situations. Large doses of ALA supplements will not raise circulating blood levels of DHA, at all.

If you’re not getting enough DHA, your brain and eyes are literally starving. Of all the fatty acids in the brain and the back of the eye, DHA is the most concentrated…and it must be replaced. If not, your brain function and vision will eventually suffer.

Low levels of DHA in the brain are associated with depression and other mental health issues. It is believed that post-partum depression may be caused by insufficient DHA. Most of the mother’s DHA is diverted to the developing baby, right before it is born. Her own supplies can quickly be depleted once she starts breastfeeding.

It has been proven emphatically that DHA is essential for normal brain development and function. Studies have shown that infants who have higher DHA blood levels develop faster in terms of cognitive function. Their visual development is faster too.

DHA and EPA continue to be important throughout a person’s life. They are used to form new pathways involved in the storage of memories. They are needed to repair brain cells that die or become damaged as part of the aging process.

All of these facts and others make a fish oil supplement that is high in DHA the best choice. Now, let’s talk about inflammation.

Fresh Fish

One of the key health benefits of increasing your intake of omega-3s is reducing inflammation throughout your body. At one time, it was believed that the reduction in inflammation was due to the fact that your body converts omega-3s into less inflammatory hormones than those created from omega-6s.

Just recently it was shown that some fish oils actually have anti-inflammatory activity that cannot be attributed to the omega-3 content, alone. In a study conducted in New Zealand, the anti-inflammatory activity of several brands with various concentrations of omega-3s was compared.

It was shown that natural hoki fish oil had two and a half times the anti-inflammatory activity of the others, even though those products had a higher omega-3 concentration.

No one knows why. It could be because of some factor yet to be discovered or because of the way the natural omega-3s work together or because of the balance present in the hoki fish oils. Regardless of the underlying reason, this experiment indicates that natural hoki fish oils are a good choice, but there’s a problem.

Hoki are tiny fish that swim in large schools. Ordinarily, they are caught for their white meat and the large strip of fat rich in omega-3s is stripped away to be used in the supplement industry.

Fat deposits are a target for concentrated toxins. Unless the hoki swim in pristine waters, the oils derived from the fat would need to be molecularly distilled to remove the toxins. Molecular distillation seems to reduce the anti-inflammatory activity.

The only place on earth where the waters are clean enough to allow hoki fish oils to be used without molecular distillation is south of New Zealand.

So, just to recap, you want a supplement that is high in DHA, provides adequate EPA and is derived from New Zealand Hoki. That really narrows the selection down significantly.

Now, the problem is that the hoki oils do not provide enough total omega-3s to allow you to come close to meeting your recommended daily intake with just two capsules per day. Currently, nutrition experts are recommending 1100 mg for women and 1600 mg for men.

If two capsules provide 1000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, a man or woman could take two and nearly meet the recommended daily intake. The rest could easily come from the person’s diet.

No natural oils provide 500 mg of omega-3s per 1000 mg of oil. 1000mg is the typical capsule size. Anything larger would be hard to swallow.

Concentrating the oils solves the problem, but concentration requires distillation, which as mentioned would decrease the anti-inflammatory activity. So, the real solution is a blend of natural hoki oils and concentrated oils.

To recap again, to get the most out of a supplement, you want high DHA, adequate EPA, natural New Zealand hoki fish oils to get the anti-inflammatory activity and a blend of concentrated oils to get all of the omega-3s you need without taking an excessively large dose.

On top of those things, you want a product that is  regularly tested for purity  and a company that publishes the testing results online. You want a company that uses only the freshest oils available, because oils that are not fresh cause fishy tasting burps, not to mention the fact that rancid oils are hazardous to your health.

There is only one brand that meets all of these criteria. That brand is Xtendlife.

Xtendlife Omega-3/DHA fish oil supplements are simply the best on the market, today. There is no other brand that provides 600mg of DHA per two capsules. There is no other brand that blends concentrated oils with natural hoki oils to give you the highest omega-3 content and the highest anti-inflammatory activity.

There is no other brand that is guaranteed to meet with your satisfaction and no other brand that is less likely to cause fishy-tasting burps. If it does, you can return the opened bottle. There is no other supplement company that allows the return of open containers. Once you try them, you are stuck with them.

Xtendlife offers three versions of omega-3 fish oil to meet the concerns or needs of different people. The standard version is the one described here.

The premium version provides all of the benefits of the standard version, as well as additional benefits, because it includes the antioxidants lycopene and astaxanthin. Want thicker, smoother, younger looking skin?

Lycopene, which is derived from tomatoes, has been shown to improve the skin’s thickness by 14% and reduce roughness by 33%. Lycopene is also necessary for good prostate health and may help protect against breast cancer.

Astaxanthin is a potent antioxidant that helps prevent and reverse free radical damage throughout your body. Free radical damage plays a major role in a host of age-related diseases and is the main cause of skin aging.

Omega3/QH Ultra is the third fish oil supplement offered by Xtendlife. It contains a unique ingredient called ubiquinol, which is the form of coenzyme Q10 that is most easily absorbed and used by your body. It provides a wide range of benefits, but the most impressive have to do with improved heart function.

Xtendlife offers everything you need to keep your body healthy and happy!

Remember, trying Xtendlife products is risk-free. If for any reason, you are unsatisfied, you can return them. Why not order some health in a bottle, today!
